Hey
I'm Tawny
I'm Tawny.
Becoming a graphic designer was a happy accident
I went to the University of Toronto to receive my degree in Architecture, and took a second major in visual arts because I didn't think sleep was important at the time. During my time in Toronto I was taking on freelance graphic design projects on the side of being a student and realized how fulfilling it was to work with people who had a vision to create something that they truly believed in. I finished my schooling, but once I got the entrepreneurship bug I never looked back! For 10 years now, I've been grateful to work with a range of companies on a variety of projects (check out the 'WORK' tab to see a few projects!).
Something I am truly proud to say is that many of my clients from that first year of dipping my toes into the designer pool in 2015 are still working with me to this day!

Fun fact to give you an insight into my character
Nothing makes me more giddy than learning a new skill. Last year I saw a jacket that I loved, so I learned how to sew. This year I learned how to throw clay, but- unlike the rest of my classmates -I am not interested in mugs, I'm making wind instruments. I switch mediums, and often make my own, like it is my day job in my visual art practice just to experience how much the medium influences me.
I think this part of me -the one that leans into something new- is a pivotal part of being a graphic designer. Other than certain foundational principles that have stood the test of time, there is not much that stays the same for long in this industry, so being receptive and adaptable is essential.

being an artist
I am grateful to say my design business and clients take most of my focus, but there are pockets of time I get to practice on a canvas and this nourishes and reinvigorates the rest of my work.
